After 12 months of service, you will have the opportunity, if you wish to, to upskill your qualifications towards a role in our A&E team, attending 999 calls on behalf of the NHS. You can also work shifts at events such as music festivals to gain hands-on experience, often working with our wider team of Doctors, Paramedics and Ambulance crews

At MET Medical, we take great care to ensure every member of our team meets the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and patient care. Pre-employment checks are an essential part of this process. They not only confirm that youโ€™re fully qualified and prepared for your role, but also give you the confidence that you are joining a trusted, regulated, and supportive organisation.

We follow the NHS Employment Check Standards, which set out the type and level of checks required before welcoming new staff. These checks ensure that everyone who joins us is:

  • Competent and capable to perform their role

  • Ready to contribute to the outstanding care we provide

While the process may feel detailed, itโ€™s designed to support both you and usโ€”creating a safe, compliant, and professional working environment. Importantly, our approach to checks is about more than meeting requirements: itโ€™s about setting you up for success from the very beginning..

Employment Checks & Compliance at MET Medical

To keep our patients, staff, and services safe, every new team member at MET Medical goes through a set of pre-employment checks. These checks follow the NHS Employment Check Standards and ensure you are fully qualified, safe to practise, and ready to thrive in your role.

  • Right to Work & Identity Checks โ€“ confirming you are legally able to work in the UK.

  • Professional Registration & Qualifications โ€“ verifying HCPC registration (where required) and any other role-specific qualifications.

  • DVLA Group 2 Licence Check โ€“ ensuring you meet the higher medical and driving standards required for operating ambulances and larger vehicles.

  • References & Employment History โ€“ checking your previous employment and experience.

  • Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) โ€“ ensuring suitability for working with vulnerable people.

  • Occupational Health โ€“ assessing fitness for the role and ensuring we can support any needs you may have.

  • Training & Mandatory Compliance โ€“ confirming essential training is up to date (e.g. safeguarding, infection prevention, manual handling, resuscitation).

These steps are designed not only to protect patients and colleagues but also to give you the confidence that youโ€™re joining a professional, safe, and supportive organisation.

At MET Medical, our checks arenโ€™t just about complianceโ€”theyโ€™re about setting you up for success from day one.
