We provide specialist bariatric ambulance journeys for patients with complex needs including bariatric transfers.

Our equipment and vehicles are available at short notice or on a contractual basis to both individuals and NHS Trusts.

Our bariatric vehicles are equipped with a wide range of equipment:

  • Ferno Megasus Stretchers

  • Track Chairs

  • Electric Stair Climbers

  • Ramps / Winches

  • Bariatric Evac Mats/ Pat Slides / Slide Sheets / Seat belt extensions

  • Bariatric wheelchairs

  • Specialist bariatric lifting devices

 

Private Bariatric Ambulance

Not eligible for NHS transport or would rather not wait around? You can book MET Medical direct for NHS or private appointments.

The main benefit of private transport is that there is no waiting around, you can be certain the ambulance will pick you up at a pre-booked time and the crew will be on hand as soon as you are ready to go home. Our bariatric vehicles cater for patients up to 400kg.

One of the unique benefits of MET Medical is we are led by a team of managers who are all registered health care professionals, this combined with our extensive experience in delivering 999 services means we can often cater for more challenging cases such as those requiring specialist care or medication.

What is Bariatric?

Bariatrics is the branch of medicine that deals with the causes, prevention, and treatment of obesity.

MET Medical are experienced in moving and handling heavier patients and have a wide range of specialist equipment to ensure patients can be transported in a safe and dignified way.

High Dependency Ambulances

We offer high dependency and emergency ambulances for patients who require a higher level of care. All HDU Ambulances are appropriately staffed by technicians or paramedics and have equipment such as suction and cardiac monitoring. MET Medical are able to support with difficult or specialist projects on a case by case basis.

Bariatric Ambulance Weight

Bariatric ambulance are usually utilised for patients with a BMI which is greater than 40 or are 40kg greater than their ideal weight based on their height.

BMI doesn’t always give a true reading as muscle weighs more than fat and BMI does not consider muscle.
