Event Medical Cover FAQ’s

What do you do?

We have three main areas to our business. We provide first class medical cover to the events industry covering all events from small sporting fixtures to large festivals requiring field hospitals and multiple ambulances. We provide routine, urgent and emergency ambulance transport by road in the UK and we provide international repatriation services by air ambulance, commercial flight and where appropriate by road.

Where are you based/where do you cover?

Our offices are located on London Road Business Park St Albans, Hertfordshire between the A1(M), M25 and M1 motorways. This places us well to provide medical cover to London, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex and the surrounding areas.

Our M25 location gives us ideal access to central London and the home counties. We do travel further afield and for larger events go as far as the North or sometimes even abroad.

Are you insured?

Yes we have have the highest level of insurance with cover for public liability, medical malpractice, and our ambulances are insured for emergency use. We are regulated by the Care Quality Commission which means we are required to meet the same safety standards as the NHS. We are also members of the National Outdoor Event Association.

How much does it cost?

The cost of medical cover for events depends upon staffing levels and the vehicles which are provided. We supply anything from a solo medic in a car to a fully fledged medical team with paramedics, nurses, doctors and ambulance staff. One of our key selling points is that we do not use first aiders – all of our staff are used to dealing with medical problems and have 999 experience.

How do I know what level of cover I need?

Most sporting events are governed by the regulating body which will specify the minimum ambulance and first aid requirements. We risk assess every event and will guide you accordingly. Outdoor events come under the umbrella of the purple guide which used to be published by the Health and safety Executive, but is now written and published by the Events Industry Forum. It’s a guide to safety at events and includes everything from security provision to medical. Check out www.thepurpleguide.co.uk for more information.

Need more help?

Why not give us a call and we will happily advise you further about your event on 0203 627 9042. We work closely with the statutory ambulance services and have strong links with London Ambulance Service and East of England Ambulance Service. Every enquiry we receive is reviewed by a registered paramedic or nurse.
